Why we take part

We sit in standards committees and working groups, comment on draft standards and contribute what building real product passports teaches us. We believe in sustainability and the circular economy. That is why this platform exists.

Close to the regulation

We follow the changing requirements in the EU and in Switzerland at first hand and build them into the platform before they become mandatory.

Close to the standards

Through the standards bodies we follow the standards at first hand. The data model and the interfaces follow them instead of interpreting them after the fact.

Close to everyday practice

The exchange with associations and companies shows what works day to day. This is where solutions come from that hold up for our customers.

Where we take part

Membership on its own moves nothing. These are the places where we sit on the committees, file comments and review drafts while they are still open.

UN Transparency Protocol

We work continuously in the group writing the protocol and speak up in its calls. Six of our comments on version 0.7.0 stand in the public register. What we ask for, we also ship: our own verifier already works that way. More on that in Shaping the global standard.

CIRPASS-2

We are part of the Community of Practice of the EU project piloting the Digital Product Passport in four value chains. What comes back from those pilot chains we read against what building real passports shows us. Together the two show early where a rule binds in practice.

Schweizerische Normen-Vereinigung

Through the SNV we hold seats on the national standards committee and on its Digital Product Passport subcommittee, the Swiss voice in the European DPP standardisation of CEN/CLC/JTC 24. The series is being written piece by piece; whatever is adopted we build in as it lands, so far EN 18219 and EN 18223.

Battery Pass ready

As a supporting partner we accompany the consortium building a test environment for the EU battery passport with leading research institutes. Batteries are the first product group with a binding obligation, and 18 February 2027 is what the work there is heading for.

Shanghai Yongde Smart Label

Creating Digital Product Passports is the manufacturer’s responsibility - and the EU regulation explicitly stresses the quality and security of the physical data carriers. Access codes must be reliable, tamper-proof and permanently attached, whether as a QR code, NFC tag or RFID chip.

For this, Transpareo has entered into a strategic cooperation with Shanghai Yongde Smart Label Co. Ltd. and recommends the company as its preferred partner for physical data carriers. In January 2026 we saw the technology, production and quality for ourselves during a factory visit.

Yongde covers all relevant carrier technologies from a single source - from woven and laser-engraved QR codes through NFC tags to embedded RFID labels - and holds a patent for digital label systems granted by the European Patent Office.
